Makerere University Freshers for the academic year 2025/2026 were orientated and introduced to university basic survival skills on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at a ceremony held at the freedom Square.

The 25/U Freshmen were urged to do their best in order to keep the Makerere flag raised up high during their stay at campus.

Speaking at the ceremony, the 91st Guild President told the Freshers that their choices and passion are vital in their academic journey.

"Welcome to the best University in Africa. You should count yourselves lucky. Makerere has chosen you, but it's your choices, your effort, and your passion in the journey ahead that will shape your destiny here. The path is yours to define, he said.

The academic registrar Prof. Buyinza Mukadazi welcomed the fresh men, emphasizing the need for early registration. He also urged those who wish to change programs to follow the established guidelines.

The Directorate of Information and Computer Technology (DICTs) emphasized usage of the MUELE, student portal creation procedure, enrollment and registration,cyber security, and Wi-Fi access points

The orientation for freshers will run upto Saturday, August 9th, 2025. During the course of the week, different colleges will have independent orientation programmes.
