The 91st Guild President Ssentamu Churchill James has called upon fellow student leaders to serve with integrity and to remain united.
The Guild president made the call during the second edition of the Guild leadership summit held at Makerere University on Thursday, April 24th, 2025.
"To my fellow guild presidents and student leaders: let this summit not be the end of a conversation but the beginning of a movement. Let us return to our campuses with renewed purpose, to advocate, to mobilize, and to serve with integrity," he said.
"Let us build bridges across borders, share ideas, and stand united in our diversity—because the future of East Africa is not written by one nation alone, but by the unity of many," he added.
The 91st guild president noted that the youth are no longer leaders of tomorrow but leaders of today. He highlighted unemployment, ineffective education systems, mental health and unfair representation as the major challenges faced by youth.
The event was graced by Kenya's fourth president Uhuru Kenyatta, who encouraged the youth to fight hard for the future of East Africa.
The summit was organised by the Guild Leadership Academy.
