Makerere University students have been lectured on building a culture of service in public institutions and urged to emulate the late Frank Kalimuzo during the second Frnak Kalimuzo Public Lecture held at Makerere University on June 13th, 2025.

Mrs. Lorna Magara, chair Makerere University council encouraged students to pursue their careers a pathways to service and not merely success.

"Kalimuzo Public Lecture series is a commitment to shaping leaders grounded in integrity, courage, and purpose. May today’s insights move us to action," she said, adding, "To our students: pursue your careers as pathways to service, not merely success. To our faculty and staff: let Mr. Kalimuzo’s values shape your professional conduct."

Prof Moses Muhwezi, Principal MUBS said Kalimuzo served with courage, humility and vision. Muhwezi wondered whether public institutions are still driven by purpose or lost in procedure.

In her address, Esther Kalimuzo noted that her deceased husband believed that a university should not only sharpen the mind, but also shape the soul.

“To Frank, education was never just about books and degrees, it was a sacred trust. He believed a university should not only sharpen the mind, but also shape the soul. He upheld academic excellence, yes, but more than that, he insisted that conscience must accompany credentials," Esther Kalimuzo said.

The lecture featured a conservation between Prof. Moses Muhwezi and Esther Kalimuzo that was moderated by Mrs. Allen Kagina. The Lecture was held under the theme; building a culture of service in public institutions- the late Frank Kalimuzo as an example
