Makerere University was privileged to host the first East African Persons with Special Needs University games.
The event began on June 6th and closed on June 8th, 2025. The games played included goalball, sitting volleyball and show down.
The host university walked away with three trophies, making a bold statement of the giant it is at both academics and sports. The event proved that disability is not inability, it is a special ability.
Other participating universities included Kyambogo University, Maseno University and Kenyatta University.
The East African Persons with Disabilities games are a separate edition of the E.A University games. The games were introduced in order to create a more inclusive space in the university sports arena.
This year's edition was the first of its kind with other editions in the pipeline.
